I don't like to restrict my kids: Queenie Singh

Recently, Queenie Singh was in Chandigarh and once again we saw how this lady balances being a socialite with a penchant for being an entrepreneur and jewellery designer.
Besides steering jewellery designing with much ease, Queenie also talked to us about being the hands on mother.

While Pakistani fashion colours Indian clothes, Queenie said, "it isn't about a country per se.Whatever is beautiful gets picked up. Pakistani kurtis and salwars are aesthetically appealing and that is where it clicks hugely with the masses." for this designer, the current jewellery scene is heavily influenced by retro and heirloom pieces. She gives the haathphool or the handlet a contagious charm. "When we talk about traditional bridal jewellery the haathphool is making a big comeback. Not just bridal, but even an off-shoulder cocktail gown looks great paired with a handlet, which is again a variant of the quintessential haathphool," she added, "the handlet is huge in Europe. Many of my European clients ask for it." From forecasting trends to aspirational designing of jewellery, Queenie's sense of designing comes from a place of high fashion. As she talked about india making a global presence, she elaborated, "the chaandbaalis and the polki are stunningly popular in the west."
Not a restricting mother
As the conversation shifted towards her children, Queenie beamed proudly about her daughter's book. "tiara wrote unmask at the age of 17. She's currently studying fictional writing. I will always let my children choose whatever they want. Between 17 to 25 years is the age to live to the fullest. I'm fiercely protective of my kids but not to the extent of restricting their freedom."
